At maps.openrouteservice.org such a square typically indicates the selected point along the route and appears once you hover your cursor next to the route, see my screen below. To be honest, I’m not sure why you see more than one square though :sweat_smile: Could you maybe provide some more details, in particular:

  • does the screenshot actually come from the openrouteservice maps client or somewhere else,
  • what are the steps to reproduce the observed behavior,
  • last but not least, what browser are you using?

Thanks @andrzej - I’m not sure I know the answers to your questions - I’m pretty new at this and it’s kinda why I asked, but:

  1. Screenshot is from the ORS website (no app involved);
  2. I deleted two nodes between what is now 10 & 11 - so, perhaps they turned into wandering squares… (I just reloaded the map and they disappeared…);
  3. Firefox
