we’re making an important update to the openrouteservice user dashboard. On the 25th February 2025 at 10:00 (CET), your user dashboard, currently accessible at Dashboard | ORS, will move to a new webpage as part of our transition to HeiGIT user management.
As you may know, openrouteservice is developed at HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) to provide advanced geospatial services. This transition will allow us to enable seamless access to multiple services with a single account.
What You Need to Know:
Your API key, quota and the API URL will remain unchanged — no action is required for continued API usage.
You must log in with your email address — username-based logins will no longer be supported.
Your password must be at least 8 characters long. If it isn’t already, we recommend updating it beforehand to avoid any login issues.

Importing users into the new system will take some time. We hope to be done by 18:00 CET.

If you have previously signed up for a newsletter (even though we haven’t sent those for quite some time …), you will have to sign up again.
As this will be a newsletter for everything HeiGIT does, which also includes updates for ORS. These will be handled by our Outreach team and will be arriving more frequently.

There is currently one further issue when you are using maps.openrouteservice.org while being logged in, which we will hopefully fix in the upcoming days.
