Is it possible to have “running” as a profile in particular for the isochrone maps. This could be based upon an average running speed of 2.99 metres/second (source: Running: Men instinctively run faster than women as it is more energy efficient | New Scientist as men is average of 3.25 m/s and women 2.74 m/s) I would like to use this data for day-to-day work in particular emergency responses.
Hey,
I assume a running profile would only differ from the existing walking or hiking profiles by the speed used.
As such, you should be able to do a “conversion” of sorts yourself.
As you can see from our backend documentation on the travel speeds for the walking profiles, they use 5 km/h as a walking speed.
Adapting this to ~10 km/h (slightly lower than the 2.99 m/s, but still running) would mean a factor of 2, so instead of querying a 20 min running isochrone, you could query a 40 min walking isochrone.
Best regards
Hey,
Thank you for the quick response.
Yes that was the conversion I had planned. I just thought that if there was other interest in having a running profile then an universal speed could be used so analysis across different users could be the same.
I will progress with the conversion factor instead.
Many thanks
