I’m using a free Standard key for a small delivery website. On 26–27 Sep 2026, every Directions V2 request returned 403 {“error”:“Quota exceeded”} for several hours, while my dashboard still showed Directions V2 2000/2000 remaining (screenshots attached).
I also noticed that successful responses show x-ratelimit-limit: 200 for Directions and 100 for Geocoding, while the dashboard shows 2000 and 3000 per day. Our own logs show about 200 Directions requests in the 24 hours before the errors started.
Which limit does the gateway actually enforce for a Standard key, 200/100 or 2000/3000 per day?
We deprecated api.openrouteservice.org in April, the blue box just barely visible in your first screenshot above “Remaining Key Quotas” has all the relevant information.
The quota shown in the dashboard thus is the quota for api.heigit.org.
We do not show the quota for the deprecated URL anymore.
Thanks a lot for the clarification! That explains it. Our app was still calling the deprecated api.openrouteservice.org. We’ll switch to api.heigit.org now.
