Not sure if it’s just me or if that would be better for most people, but my feeling is that the “Import your Tracks” prompt/pop-up should disappear automatically when the import of a .gpx file is done, I don’t see much reason for it to stay visible.

I’d agree, but unfortunately it is not planned to include any new features in the classic client, see:
