Help Needed: Planning a Scenic Cycling Route with OpenRouteService

Hi everyone

I am new to Open Route Service and could use some help. I am planning a scenic cycling trip through a mix of urban and rural areas and want to make sure I choose the best route. I would like to avoid busy highways but still include some beautiful nature spots and maybe a few small towns.

Does anyone have tips on how to use Open Route Service to create a route that balances safety with scenic views Also any advice on setting the right parameters or using specific features in the tool would be greatly appreciated.
I have also read this https://arundquist.wordpress.com/2022/10/30/creating-bike-routes-with-python-sap-sac/ but I could not found anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,
[Marcos]

Hey,

there is no option in openrouteservice to prefer “nature” or “small towns” - you’ll have to search for these spots yourself and include them in your routing request.

You do have the option to avoid highways, via

"options":{"avoid_features":["highways"]}

Best regards
