Are there any plans at this time for an ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcOnline plugin? I would like to add this service to an ArcOnline widget.
I know a previous Pro plugin was created; however, I am unable to get that to work properly.
Has anyone done this before?

as ArcGIS Pro and ArcOnline are both proprietary software, we currently have no plans to create and maintain plugins for them.

as stated above by @jschnell ,we do not officially support a plugin at the moment.
However, there is a plugin developed by another person, outside our non-profit, that could work for you. It hasn’t been touched in a while and I don’t know if it still works, but maybe it’s worth checking it out.
If you can consider using QGIS, there is an excellent plugin available for openrouteservice:
